Small icon on toolbar which is set to large

If I want a small icon in a toolbar, which is set to show large icons, I need to set toolbar-icons to small and all button-icons to large except the one I want to be small.

Is there a solution to just set an icon to small (and not all others to large)? I need it for a drive menu (large menu-icon, but small drive-icons in the list) and don't want always to edit all other buttons on later changes.

At the moment you either:

  • have to set the sizes on all buttons on the toolbar (and set the toolbar itself to not override them, i.e. Icon Size: Default in Customize/Toolbars)

or:

  • Use a special icon set which only has small icons, then set the button you want different to all the others to use it.

I would go with the first option myself. The toolbar icon size overrides restrict things and I avoid turning them on. Setting icon sizes on individual buttons doesn't take long and only needs to be done once, so I do that when needed.

Ok.

No must have, but having a "small symbol" (next to "large symbol") in button-editor would be fine in future...

Not-large means small already. There are only (at most) two sizes for each icon.

The problem isn't that, but that the toolbar level size option (if used at all) overrides the button level, rather than the other way around.

Maybe we misunderstood, we have:

Toolbar: Standard, small, large
Button: large symbol/icon)

If set toolbar to small, I can set button to large.
If set toolbar to large, I can't set button to small (there's no option).

Yes, I can set all buttons manually to large, but it would be esasier to have also a small symbol/icon option.

No you can't. (Well, you can, but the button setting won't do anything and the icon will still be small.)

Then it was set to standard (while icons are smalla and large-setting works). Nevertheless it's possible, but not otherwise.

If the toolbar is set to Icon Size: Default (I guess "standard" or similar with the German translation) then the size of each button is decided by the Large Icon checkbox in each button.

The icon sizes then will either be large (checkbox on) or small (checkbox off). There's no need for a separate small checkbox there as small is the same as "not large".
