Just wanted to report a bug which happened in the past when upgrading to 13.17 as far as I can tell:
Some of my File Types groups, specifically the in-built ones Music, Movies, Images etc, were reset to Opus defaults, and not only for the list of file extensions, for all of each of their settings. If it matters, I had renamed the first two in-built file types to Audio and Videos, so seeing what I considered my own file types get reset wasn't ideal.
I've restored the Info Tips / Tooltips, file extensions list etc for each so I no longer have an issue, but I wanted to draw attention to this bug in case it went unnoticed so that it can be addressed before it happens again. Since I likely upgraded to beta version 13.16.1, it may be a bug which only affected early beta users, I don't know.
Sorry, you're right, that suggestion wouldn't help here. I misread the problem when I was in a hurry earlier.
I'm not sure why the file type groups would have been reset like that. 13.17 is a couple of months old now and I'm not aware of any similar reports about it doing that.
I initially thought it was related to the introduction of British English language which is a feature I enabled immediately, which supposedly does some automatic translations, but after reading the change logs I thought it could be more broadly related to the file type group changes which happened.
It's possible that the automatic translations affected the in-built file type groups (which I had renamed) and reset them? I don't know. Other file type groups which I had defined didn't lose their custom Info Tip config etc, only the in-built ones as stated.
I did some testing on this today and couldn't reproduce any problems, FWIW.
Changing languages will reset the name of the file type groups to the one from the new language, but the changes inside them to thinks like double-click actions and context menus were all preserved.
If you see the problem again or have a sequence of actions that makes it happen, we can investigate.
