Sometimes cannot delete files or folders

Why is it that sometimes I cannot delete a file or a folder unless I exit and restart DOPUS? Even merely closing a Lister is not enough to allow me to carry out the deletion.

Something must have the files open so they can't be deleted. If exiting Opus allows them to be deleted, then it's probably something running inside of the Opus process, but it may not be Opus itself (and probably isn't or we'd have lots of similar complaints).

It could be a 3rd party shell extension (or video codec, viewer plugin, etc.), so disabling those is a good first step to see if it stops the problem happening.

You can use ShellExView to list and temporarily disable (and later re-enable) the shell extensions on your system. (Be sure to exit and restart Opus after disabling some.)

Viewer plugins can be disabled in Opus under Preferences / Viewer / Viewer Plugins.

Thank you leo for the advice. I'll look into this a little more.

If you select a file and try to delete it while the preview pane is still loading said file you can get an error trying to preform the deletion.
This is most noticeable when selecting a large file over a network.

Closing the preview pane will allow for the file to be deleted if this is the problem.
