I am trying to reorder 35 image files (in one folder) using Manual Sorting ready to rename them in the BRU. The manual resort works really well but that order is not read by the BRU which only shows the files in their previous sort order. (The save sort order is permanently greyed out in Opus). I looked in detail at the online help and preferences and tried many options, all to no avail. Please advise on how to do this as this was the first of many future occasions that I would like to do this.
I did eventually find a solution - drag and drop within BRU in the left hand pane but it's a very imprecise and inconsistent mouse action.
Manual sort is only available within Opus, BRU is not aware of it. Apparently the only input it accepts via command line is a sourcepath, which is not enough. Are there other methods of importing files? If not, I am afraid drag&drop will be your only option. But hey, both file displays are big, not much mouse precision needed here, even I could do it
Not that I can see - I tink drag and drop within BRU is the only way round this problem.
Within Opus, the behaviour of the Manual sort is curious (I think) You can save the revised ordering of the files but it does not display as such unless Manual Sorting is enabled. I can understand the logic of having the 2 different sorts available, but is the Enabled Manual Sorting restricted to one (new) sort or can you Manual Sort multiple times?
This is so confusing for me to read. For a couple of decades, BRU has always been a Linux/Unix command-line tool. It's short for "Backup & Restore Utility." It's weird to see it referred to another way.
I looked up the features of the BRU being discussed. I can't see anything BRU does that DOpus doesn't. @Jon and @Leo, thank you for creating an extremely flexible and powerful rename tool without having such an incredibly cluttered interface. You guys do good work!
