Is there any way to get a new lister to start with the tree expanded?
'Set as default lister' when it is expanded never works for me.
I have tried a few searches for something like a command line switch that might do this but haven't found anything.
I did find something about 'embedded functions for new listers' and 'go expandtree new' does exactly what I want but it only works from an already open lister.
Expanded in which way? To the current folder, or some others?
Is the Preferences / Folder Tree / Options / Automatically expand to current folder option that the EXPANDTREE argument is equivalent to turned on for you?
Start with the folder tree showing the root of the C:\ drive expanded, showing all folders in the root of that drive down the left had side, folder tree panel of the lister window.
I currently have it starting with the folder tree starting at the desktop and working down but everything is collapsed when I start a new lister. I realise it is only one extra mouse double-click to get what I want but it would be nice not to have to do it every time.
Are you in C:\ when you save the Default Lister? You'd need to be for C:\ to be expanded when the Default Lister opens (assuming the Preferences option is also on).
Not exactly sure what you mean by "in C:" but if I have a lister with dual panels and a separate tree panel on the left of the dual panes and the c:\ drive root folder is expanded in the tree folder, if I then 'save as default lister' it never opens with the tree folder view in the state I saved it in, it is always collapsed. Even if I save it with both panels displaying the root of the C drive the folder tree is still collapsed when I open a new lister.
What's the Preferences setting I mentioned set to?
Preferences / Folder Tree / Options / Automatically expand to current folder option is on and 'populate contents for local drives only' is selected.
Could you post a screenshot of what the lister looks like right after it has been opened?
Maybe the folder tree is locked or something else that will be apparent if we can see how things look.
Pic attached .
That took some doing, tried uploading pic several times but nothing seemed to happen for a while then I kept getting this message:
"Connection closed by remote server
You tried to access the address posting.php?mode=reply&f=3&t=19450, which is currently unavailable. Please make sure that the web address (URL) is correctly spelled and punctuated, then try reloading the page."
Thanks!
Is Preferences / Folder Tree / Options / Expand selected branch turned on?
No it wasn't and that seems to have sorted it, thanks.
I thought I had tried all those settings but must have missed that one.
