Start up problems with Dopus

Hi - I am trying to make dopus start up when the computer starts. My first attempt was to make it happen automatically was to enable the start on startup in Preferences. This does not work.

My next step was to put it in the Windows 11 startup folder. This works, but when dopus loads, it generates about 10 instances of the same error message:

Now, this does not happen when I launch dopus from the Windows Start Menu.

Any ideas will be gratefully accepted.

Check in Windows Task Manager's Startup tab. It may be blocked in there, and if so can be unblocked from there.

There's probably a detail wrong in the shortcut, but I would focus on making the built-in startup option work.

I checked the task manager, and dopus is enabled, so it's not blocked.
It's also activated in the windows system manager >apps>startup.
I've also checked the windows registry, and dopus exsists there too.

There's nothing left to check or correct. Are there any switches for dopus.exe?

If you reboot with the Preferences startup option on, then wait for Windows to run the startup apps, does dopus.exe appear in the Task Manager process tab?

Are you saying the startup option doesn’t work based on the process list, or based on there being no Opus windows open? Depending on config, Opus may be starting and ready in the background but not opening any windows.

I have no problem launching Dopus from windows start up, it loads minimized.
What it does after launching is to open all the listers that have been used before shutdown. It does that silently, and only by clicking the Do icon on the taskbar does one realize that all these listers are open.

I found a setting in Preferences, but it doesn't seem to have an effect on Do. Here is the setting I used:

I know that I can close the listers with a right click on the icon, but that also closes Do.
So, I no longer have a problem launching Do at start up, it's just the open listers that is the problem.

Cheers

When does it do that? As in, which action do you do which Opus reacts to by open the windows?

Depending on the action, it may be down to the settings on one of the other preferences pages under the Launching Opus category.

The problem was caused by Dopus having administrator privilege. Once I removed
that, Dopus launched fine, and only opened one lister.

I spent a lot of time looking for a fix, and finally found it. I'm glad this search is over!

Not sure why that would have that effect, unless it was running under a different account (not just elevation). Glad it's fixed though.

There are also other reasons to avoid running Opus as administrator. Use the built-in UAC support and Admin Mode instead:
