Stop updating file access from dopus

hi, is there a way to stop dopus from updating the "Accessed:" field in every file dopus sees in a folder...

here's my problem i have some software that organizes my files with some criteria, one of those is the last time the file was accessed, problem is, simply opening a folder with dopus automatically refreshes this field on every file under it, i think it's an unnecessary hit on hdd performance and it's kinda of lie since it should only update that field if the file was opened, and not just opened by dopus.. i can turn this behavior off by changing some keys on windows registry but then i lose a useful functionality altogether

any ideas?

This is why the accessed timestamp is near-enough useless and newer versions of Windows/NTFS don't even update it anymore.

It'll depend why the file is being accessed. Make sure you don't have any columns enabled that require Opus to look at the file contents. e.g. Turn off Details, Dimensions, MP3 tags, and anything like that.

For EXE files, you'll need to turn off icons as getting the file's icon means opening the file. etc.

But IMO it isn't worth trying. Something is going to access the files at some point and mess up the timestamps. Just opening the standard Properties dialog to read the accessed timestamp will bump the timestamp most of the time. The accessed timestamp is too fragile to be useful.
