Styles and background color

Version of Dopus: Since Dopus 10 (under Dopus 9 the bug was not here)

Description of the bug: When I apply a style I get the background color applied on the current folder. However if I begin to navigate the color is lost and the default background color is applied automatically.

Nota: I tried to search if the bug was already reported, however I have not found a topic about this.
Nota2: I wonder if it is not linked to the fact I have bought the upgrade to Dopus 10 cause the bug has appeared when the version 10 was launched. In the past I reported a bug (about display) that was linked to the fact I had transfered my Dopus 9 config to Dopus 10.

Below is the screenshot of my problem !

Try turning on the format lock (in the status bar) before changing folders, although I have a feeling background images/colours are intentionally not affected by the lock (as they are typically used to indicate some detail about the folder they are applied to, not the way the folder is currently being viewed; e.g. a background representing the Desktop folder would be unwanted when changing to a network drive even if the format was locked).

It is already done :frowning:
The screenshot doesn"t show it but the format is locked...

I am sorry to bring back this issue, but I have no solution for it

is there a command that permit us to change the color used for the background ? if it exists I would use it in my button (yes I know it is the purpose of the styles, but hey... no solution since Opus 10 is out....)

If there is a need of my config file I uploaded it...

Last question, why the old support has disappeared ??? under Dopus 9 I reported several bugs and there were all solved :frowning:
Ralendil - Configuration - 24-févr.-2013.ocb (1.3 MB)

If you add a Favorite Format (under Preferences / Folders / Folder Formats) which changes the background colour, you can then set the current window's background colour to red with the command Set FORMAT="redbg" (where redbg is the name of the format you made).

Not sure what you mean. The old support has not disappeared, it's just handled via the forum now instead of email.

Doesn't work...
The color is not, even, displayed :frowning:

So problem is not solved...

I tried it before posting and it worked for me.

yes, I believe you...
that's why I wrote that the problem is here since I installed Dopus 10....
Cause I believe it is a problem linked to the transition between Opus 9 and Opus 10 (I had a problem with that by the past)

In August 2011 I reported 2 problems. Dr Greg Perry transmitted my problem to Jon cause he was not able to reproduce the problem
Jon asked me my config file and solved the first problem (that was about Tiles color display and it was solved within an update)
But for the current problem it is not yet solved....

So is there a file I can delete or replace in C:\Users***\AppData\Roaming\Directory Opus to put back normal behaviour ?
I don't care to have to redo all my styles, however I don't want to remake entirely my Dopus interface :frowning: ....

I forgot to add the picture of what I did (for the use of the command Set FORMAT
If something is wrong in it, feel free to point it to me
Thanks

You've created a wildcard format called Work there (at the top of the list in Preferences). I said to create a Favorite format (at the bottom of the list).

(Also, the change in behaviour from Opus 9 to Opus 10 (or whenever it changed; I'm not sure exactly), and what the first half of this thread was about, is completely by design and not a bug, unless I've misunderstood something. When changing folders, the background for the folder you change to is meant to be used, not the background from the locked format (if any). (But you can still override it by then explicitly applying a format.))

ok then I am stupid...
It correctly apply the color on the current folders (both panes) and once I navigate the color is lost... even with format lock

also I tried to uninstall totally Directory Opus and reinstalled it.
With the default interface I created a style and tried if the use of a color works... and it doesn't on my computer.(even with locked format)
And it was working with Opus 9 (as I used that a lot of times)

That's how it is meant to work in Opus 10. When you navigate the new background (if any) overrides the old one.

Formats do bot define backgrounds by default, which is probably why you see something different on a clean install. You need to remove the backgrounds from your folder formats if you don't want them to override the backgrounds when changing folders.

problem is... there is no difference between the behaviour with my config and behaviour with a fresh clean install

The color is limited to the folder that is displayed when you apply the style / format...
so if i understand what you said, with Dopus 10 we have lost a feature cause the color will always be lost if we navigate
