If we use this function, clicking the small "x" twice won't close the FAYT bar. Wouldn't it be better, if the second click would close it, instead having to click inside the file display?
Clicking it once closes it here.
Are you talking about the Filter Bar rather than the FAYT bar?
Ok, wasn't quite sure. Yes, it rather might be the filter bar i was talking about.
I guess it could, but I'm not sure.
The small x there is just a "clear filter" button, not a close button. Close buttons also use X icons but in a different size, style and color. They are quire different visually and behaviourally. It might be strange for the clear filter button to act like a close button when clicked a second time.
The clear filter button also resets the hide/show options to the left of the wildcard box, so it would not always be clear if it had something to clear (and acted like a clear button) or if it was going to close the whole bar. Being able to click on it to reset everything on the bar and get to a known starting point, without having to think about whether you are already there, is important.
A proper, separate close button could be added, but I am not sure it is really needed, and the bar is already tight on space in some situations. (I am not sure the close button on the FAYT field is really needed either, but there's less of a space issue there.)

Yes, of course. Basically it is. But technically, there would be no sense in clicking it twice. So it might as well turn into a close button. But, not a big deal at all.
That's a point. What, if the icon would turn into some slightly different icon? Anyway, it's not a real issue, rather some cosmetic idea.
Some good points, yes.
That's ok with me. Thanks for looking into it.
