Suggestion: Copy locked files with volume shaddow copy provi

Hello,

when trying to copy locked files it would be great if Directory Opus could offer a dialog to copy those files using the volume shadow copy provider service.

Best regards
Martin

Hi, thanks for the suggestion.

Is this something you run into often? If it is only once in a while, the Previous Versions functionality in Windows can be used to do this already. (The UI is not terribly good/convenient, but it's okay for rare tasks.) If it is often, would you mind giving some background on what sort of tasks involve copying files which are read-locked by other programs?

Presumably the files you want to copy are in the middle of being written to by something else (unless the other program is blocking other readers unnecessarily)?

Are they files which were only recently created, or ones which have existed for a long time which you now want to copy/backup? (If they were only recently created, I am not sure that using VSS would make sense, since there may not be a consistent version of the file in any snapshot, and if it's locked because it is being written to then creating a snapshot of its current state may give you a partial or corrupt file.)

Is this for (automated?) backup purposes or for another scenario?
