Synchronize: Something bad... Overriding/ignoring right window, Switching destination on it's own

I know of no changes i have made to my computer, and i really need to do a full restart and see, but presently when i start with two windows in DO right of the directory tree Synchronize fails to allocate the right side window to the destination. When i change this in the bars that say "Left" "Right" and click Compare, the compare usually runs correctly but when i hit "Synchronize" it more often than not changes the right side destination. I have run perhaps six trials on this, happened 5 out of six times. I run synchs about once per week, this is the first i've noticed.

How do you open the sync panel? Do you use a Go command?

Maybe the preset defaults to something unwanted.

A screenshot of how the panel is configured would certainly help.

I see the point of failure, if my memory hasn't blown out.

I will change my right hand window to the new directory i wish to synch to (and change the left), but the bar in the synch area remains on the prior directory. I could have sworn that when i change one of the windows the bars within Synch would change to reflect the chosen directory above...

Ohhhhhhh that's embarrassing... i just noticed that the link symbol was off. I must have inadvertantly hit it somehow...

Thank you for getting me to take a better look, even with glasses, these days my vision gets fuzzy later in the day!

For anyone else with the same problem, the link icons are on the right of the path fields, and should look like this if you want the panel to follow the active folders as you navigate rather than stay on a fixed folder:
