I've defined Label Assignments under Folder Paths. How about automatically applying that color to the tab?
Tabs already use colors, font styles and icons to indicate other things so applying labels to them could cause problems.
However, you can assign tab colors to different folders using Folder Formats, and the color will then be used down the side of the tab.
