The Directory Is Not Empty (145)

Hi.

I am trying to Shift-delete a folder containing 3 small files, but I get the message, "The Directory Is Not Empty (145)".
If I try to simply delete it, I get the message, "The file is too large for the destination file system".

The problem began when I right clicked on a file with Directory Opus, and Directory Opus hung forcing me to reboot.
Ever since, I have been unable to delete this folder and files.

I have tried running CHKDSK /F, but I got an error message saying something similar to the above error message about the file being too large for the destination file system.

Can someone please help me?

Thank you.

Do you get similar errors if you try to delete the file via Windows Explorer?

Yes. I get the message "The file is too large for the destination file system". And it appears that it is happening to all files on this drive since DOpus crashed.
And it seems like my drive is locked. I can't even save an image to the drive.

I tried running chkdsk /f, but I get the following error.

Something is wrong with the drive (either with the physical hardware or with the logical filesystem and data), and that is likely to be behind the cause of the problems you are seeing in all the different programs.

This is unrelated to Directory Opus, and the errors are coming from the operating system.

The first thing I would do is back up the data to another drive ASAP, in case it is a physical error (chkdsk's "disk read error" makes me fear that case, although it isn't definitive), as that could get worse the more the drive is used and render the drive completely unreadable.

Once it is backed up, a site like SuperUser.com or similar Windows troubleshooting sites are your best bet for finding someone who has experienced similar errors and knows what to do. (A quick search found this thread, but I don't know how much it fits your situation. Some of the suggestions in it will modify the data in ways you can't undo, so doing a backup first is important.)

Thanks for your reply, leo.

I am backing up now.
Then I am going to use Diskpart and and start afresh.
