Themes not working consistantly -fixed!

This post is mostly for information about Themes not working. I have purchased 2 copies of DirOpus and Have upgraded to version 9. When using Version 8 I used the themes options and it worked great. When I upgraded to version 9, one copy changed when a theme (Office 2003 blue) was installed, on my Laptop, and My Desktop version ignored all the graphics in the same theme. After some research I found the "Images" Folder missing from this installation.

  1. I manually created the Images Folder in:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\Jack\Application Data\GPSoftware\Directory Opus\Images"
  2. copied the images over from my laptop and the next time I started a DirOpus9 Lister the theme was working.
I don't know why this folder was not created, no error message was displayed during the upgrade, nor when the theme was installed. but it does seem to work well now.
I hope this helps others with the same problem.

Rename the Theme file extension from .dlt to .zip and open it in Opus like a a zip folder. Does it include an Images subfolder which contains the images for the theme?

Well that is interesting. Why does gpsoft put a dlt (aka zip) into a Zip file when downloading? but that is another topic.
I changed the dlt to a zip and sure enough the graphics are there in an Images folder. As I mentioned in the original comment, this theme did install sucessfully on another computer, so it seems the theme file was complete.

Q: Is one of your two PCs using per-user Opus settings, and the other using per-machine?

NOTES:
Theme files are zip archives with specific contents. Many software applications use this convention. For example, Java uses .jar files which are really zip archives.

The .dlt file was most likely posted inside a .zip, since it is common practice on web site to only allow posting inside of .zip files (size and security concerns).

Thanks Kenalcock, Your suggestion may have uncovered the source of DOpus problems or confusions. I can't remember if I did an per machine or User install and am not sure how to tell post install. But while looking into that I found multiple All user folders. My desktop computer is used for a lot of program evaluation. So In the past I have installed a version of Windows Media Center OS, also I am a Windows Home Server Beta tester and have the WHS Connector software installed on this machine. The end result of this is that I have 3 folders for All users, and 3 floders for me. On top of that the references to all users and Me don't seem to align in any organized way. I am sure Microsoft has some logic to this madness but they haven't informed me about the relationship.
The bottom line to this long winded discussion is that I can see where DOpus would get confused also as to where to install the Images folder.
btw the folder references are:
All User
All User.WINDOWS
All User.WINMEDIA
Jack
Jack.HTPC
Jack.OFFICE
??
Ohh well, such is the ways of windows. Now are we all confused
