A three button button will only show the icon that is set in the Three Button Editor.
When the actual buttons have different icons, those icons will appear on mouse-down and the Three Button icon will replace it on mouse-up.

An option somewhere (in the three button editor ?) that allows showing the associated button icon of Three Button button instead of the one in the editor.

Here is a 3 button - 3 quickfilters for showing files, folders or images. Currently there is no way of setting the icon to show which one is in use. Another possible solution would be to put in a command/script box in the Three Button Editor so that @icon could be used.
We'll add a way to do this in 13.13.3.
