Toolbar sizes possible bug

I was messing around trying to make a new theme and wanted to make the toolbars thinner but couldnt find an option... I found a way to trick it to making the bars thinner than normal... by fiddling with it but either way thought this might be a bug I can post the steps I took.

Green bars = normal
Red bars = abnormally thin ones ive created

Is this a intentional feature to be able to make them as thin as the red ones? if so why is there no toolbar resize thiness/thickness unless its tucked away in the menus

I'm not sure what the actual bug you're reporting is.

Toolbars will generally be as wide as they need to be to show the items on them.

Hi Jon,

Sorry iv'e taken so long to respond and I understand how I might have confused this question with a bug report it's more that I've been working on a theme for dopus and I'm confused as to why my toolbars were different widths when they are all "Empty" of any labels / buttons etc...

Horizontal Green Bar = x4
Vertical Green Bar = x3
Vertical Red Bar Left = x1
Vertical Red Bar Right = x1

My question how comes the two red bars are so much narrower than the green as they normally can't be resized to being that thin.... afaik... since the default is x 3 and as you said the bars resize themselves to any width that is necessary. Also, all of the toolbars have "Icons" and "Labels" as hidden.

It's nothing breaking or anything I was just curious... either way I just deleted the two red ones and remade brand-new ones... it was very odd as like I said they were totally blank

If you have a completely empty vertical toolbar, it's width shows 3 of those grab-handle circles (the x1, x3 and x4 in your screenshot).

I'm guessing you must of had a button with no Label and no Icon for it to shrink to it's smallest size of 1 grab-handle circle. Every space you add to this (basically hidden) buttons Label adds another 1 grab-handle circle.

By default a button will highlight when you mouse over it which makes finding those empty buttons easier but I'm guessing you might of turned on the No Highlight Border option which hides the highlight so it was harder to know it was there. To see the hidden button you would need to click it where you think it should be.

For the Horizontal you must of had a hidden button and the toolbars font size set larger than the default 9? to get the 4 grab-handle circles. For me, going from font size 9 to 10 gave me 4 grab-handle circles from 3.

Try a hidden button with no label and no icon on a horizontal toolbar, the toolbar becomes very thin with no grab-handle circles, but as soon as you add just 1 space to the hidden buttons label, you get 3 grab-handle circles. Don't forget, the toolbars font size makes a difference too.
