I have seen one or perhaps two issues with this, and while it is minor is extremely annoyng, recently my HDDs show up Z first and C last, I have tried to reset and load a config and nothing seems to change it and I see no options to change this, could someone shed some light or advice?
Is File Explorer doing the same thing? It's possible the order comes from the shell and Windows has changed it, but I'm not sure.
On the machine I'm on now, the drives are always in drive-letter order, but it's Windows 10, which may be different.
It looks like they're listed alphabetically, by drive label. You can change the tree to show drive letters first, although it doesn't change how they are sorted for me (they're already/always in drive letter order here), so it's probably not the answer...
...But if you want to try it, go to Preferences / Folder Tree / Appearance and there's a Show drive labels as setting there:
If it does come down to Windows changing its order, we can probably work around that. I'll check on a Win11 machine myself tomorrow.
This is actually on Windows 11. But I will check now.
This was correct. Cheers.
FWIW, I checked on an up-to-date Windows 11 machine today, and the drives are listed in letter (not label) order in both Opus and File Explorer.
Not sure why you're seeing something different. Maybe there's an obscure setting somewhere in Windows. Unless you're using a Windows Insider Build, which could explain the difference.
