Trying to make spacebar select like middle mouse does

Hello, reading the help it seems like pressing space should select files. DOpus isn't doing that for me. I did have space bound to a function but I have removed that binding and nowhere can I find out how to make spacebar select the current item, ideally without deselecting other items. I can bind it to 'select' but that brings up the advanced selection dialog which isn't what I want. I'm after the middle mouse click and also the Total Commander behaviour where space on the same item toggles select on and off, and on a different item adds to the list of selected files. Thanks.

Ctrl+Space seems to do what you want.

Thank you, but it's toggling a selection purely with the spacebar that I would like to do, if possible.

I think you can set up Power Mode to work like that.

But in other modes (Details, Thumbnails, etc.), I'm not sure it would make sense: You'd still need to hold Ctrl when using the cursor keys, else they will deselect everything when you move from file to file.

(Or is the standard cursor key behavior already overridden to change that?)

I accidentally replied by email. Ignore that if you see it.

I'm essentially after the Total Commander behaviour that I am used to and like. Can very rapidly select files just by spacebar and cursor keys. No holding of Control required. To deselect a file just press space again while having it selected. Is this possible with DOpus?

Haven't fiddled with the cursor keys at all.

Thanks.

You can't, DOpus will select the item when it is focused.

Thank you, but I'm not entirely sure what that script snippet is showing. If the behaviour I am after isn't possible then that's fine and I'll stop looking for a way to do it.

TC sets the label of the focused item to red when the spacebar is pressed, maybe you can do that with a script.
