Turn off previews for office ~$ files

I tried searching around but this is surisingly difficult to search for--I generally want to see hidden files/folders but if I have the preview pane open sometimes dopus will attempt to preview the temp office files like ~$24W1-Teaching Assistant Duties and Allocation of Hours.docx.

When this happens it chokes opus, office launches a window for me to "pick the region that makes the file compatible" and it sometimes crashes office and opus. I can turn off previews for dotx but I don't want to do that; I want to turn off preview for the temp files. Any thoughts?

It's a bug in Microsoft's Word preview handler. You'll see the same issue within File Explorer.

I'll see if we can make our viewer pane ignore ~$*.doc* files with the hidden attribute set, which should work around the issue. I doubt Microsoft will ever fix it themselves as they don't fix or care about anything except scamming people into using OneDrive/Bing/Edge.

It might be useful to add an advanced exclude list/option if it's not a lot of work, but that's just an offhand idea

Indeed, I'm coming here after several requests to microsoft forum, and one that was ignored and 2 closed.

p.s.

might want to also exclude these other office ones:

~$*.ppt*
~$*.xsl*

if it helps these are other temp files i use in syncthing: (ignore the (?d)
