From Today, I'm unable to drag and drop. When I try, a red sign appears instead. Please advise. I've already updated to the latest version (13.13.2).
Thank you.

It’s caused by a bug in a recent Windows update which breaks drag and drop in a number of programs for some users. We can’t fix it, but we expect Microsoft will.
It's apparently KB5050094 that causes the issue; uninstalling it should fix it.
Looks like not every system is harmed by KB5050094. On my machine the d&d works normal.
So far no problems here, either.
Directory Opus 13.13.2.0 build 9172 english
Windows 11 24H2 build 26100.3194 on AMD64
I have no problem with drag and drop on windows 11 24h2 and dopus 13.13.2 beta.
The KB5050094 problem is likely tied to certain hardware configurations, like multiple monitors in mixed DPI, or maybe a conflict with certain mouse drivers or something like that. (These are just guesses from the reports we've had here so far. I have no way to see what the update actually does.)
It's definitely a real problem for some people, but doesn't affect everyone. Either way, it's something Microsoft need to fix, as it is breaking things in various applications due to problems at the OS level. The coordinates/messages it sends applications during drag & drop can go completely haywire now.
Yes. I switched one of three monitors from 175% to 150% and the problem appeared immediately. Switching back was not enough, a reboot was required. Ouch!
Hey, good to know I'm not the only one with this problem. The only solution that works is to go to dopus compatibility ==> High DPI settings ==> "High DPI scaling override" and select "Application". But then, Directory Opus doesn't scale nicely between monitors (like before). But at least I can drag n drop.
Is it a good idea to remove KB5050094 ? I guess it comes with other bug fixes, etc...
It's really a pain and I hope Microsoft will do something about it... it's one of those details that just spoils routine workflows.
However, Directory Opus is the only software with this problem, even old apps don't have this after the recent Windows KB updates... so there's probably something to be done by GPSoftware...
It's not the only software with the problem. Several Adobe programs are also affected:
yep, it's Premiere, Indesign, photoshop that have issues (and probably others non-adobe). I've also noticed that the KB5050094 re-installed a few days ago (causing the issue again) and you can no longer uninstall it. Windows had other updates installed since, and I've uninstalled each one backwards until it was fixed. Doing that does fix the problem again. I'm just replying here in case anyone else notices similar issues.
But yea, there's a MS issue that is borking multi-dpi dual-monitor setups. I've paused updates until I see something official from MS that acknowledges and then fixes this issue.
The problem is that whatever is in KB5050094 now seems deeply rooted in Windows... Is it because I made an in-place upgrade repair of Windows using their latest iso (trying to fix this bug), but KB5050094 is nowhere to be found (check screenshots)?
I suspect future Windows users using the latest version will have this problem in Directory Opus and Adobe.
Let's hope Windows knows and wants to fix it.
I'm now coping with changing High DPI Scaling for Directory Opus (right-click the Directory Opus
shortcut > Properties > Compatibility > Change high DPI settings . Enable " Override high DPI
scaling behavior " and choose Application. But the font sizes explode when I change monitors (as they have different resolutions and DPIs). Really unpleasant, breaks the smoothness of simple repeated tasks.
I have no problems and have recently installed another preview update to windows. Drag and drop works fin on explorer and Dopus. So I suspect it is not a microsoft fault but a driver compatibility fault.
Listing my computer spec. Now it would be good if everyone does this plus with their windows customised settings so we can pin point a more permanent fix. Admittedly I haven't heavily tweaked my machine, just run in as is out of the box only difference is added software and different desktop image. If everyone resets there computer settings to standard out of the box settings shuts down then loads back up would that solve the issue? Use a program like Winaudit on a machine that has the problem and one without to find the difference. Most likely driver issues or settings. Just an idea. Or it could mean that your computer has reached the end of useable windows update life like my last computer.

Your monitor sizes and scaling factors would be more useful information, as that seems to be what triggers the new bug in Windows (or maybe GPU drivers but it seems more likely Windows from what everyone else has discovered above).
Hey, thanks for feedback!
Attached is the report from DirectX Diagnostic Tool with my current GPU details, monitor resolution, and drivers.
Cheers

Could this be a chip fault. I mean I used to have an i7 processor and that was listed as being bad so i upgraded computer. So what I see on the internet is that loads use AMD chips and some i7 chips. Could it be chip specific. I would upgrade graphics drivers and monitor drivers if possible and see if that fixes the fault. How many new and old computers are affected. That way you can find out from the specs on both machines what is causing the problem on the computers with the fault. It could just be down to the fact that older computers need upgrading.
No. It's an operating system bug, introduced by an operating system update.
It seems that the OS no longer properly accounts for screens with different DPI scaling when dragging between windows where either or both are not "per-monitor DPI-aware" (where it's the OS's responsibility to translate the mouse coordinates, which it did correctly in the past but no longer does after a recent update).
This isn't a hardware problem (nor due Windows or anything else using more memory than in the past as speculated in the other thread about this).
Your specs just say one computer and screen. This bug is only an issue if you:
If you're only using one screen, then there's nothing to see here, you're fine. Single screens aren't the issue. and multi-monitors with the same scale setting aren't the issue either. In those instances, any windows updates will work perfectly fine.
I did try two monitors and found no fault. Your right in respect to different settings on both, so technically this is not a fault but a design of using two monitors on latest windows. Speaking to my It department at work and they said why would you want different setups on different monitors bad for your eyes. I think Microsoft decided to ditch keeping this as it fixes other problems, that more people use. However when I spoke to Microsoft they said that some peoples hardware are too old to cope with different scaling fast enough to actually perform correct scaling on second monitor if different and they had been seeing more complaints about this.
