Unassociate Image Viewer

How do I unassociate the internal image viewer? I agreed to it during the install but now I want Xnview to handle all my images?

Also, how do I tell DOpus to mirror the first pane to the second pane? I don't want the second pane to track, I just want a quick way to duplicate one pane to the other.

Does this get any easier? I find this program difficult and the help file is not helpful. I looked for the answers to the above questions but didn't see an answer. The only thing I found for file associations was a command "Prefs FILETYPES". Where do I input such a command?

Hello edbro9,

The following button is what I use for duping a single lister into a dual lister.

<?xml version="1.0"?> {8D18ADBA-DE2B-4E47-A7E2-8C785C974089} Open Here in Dual Opens in Dual with both listers in the current folder. 95 Go CURRENT OPENINDUAL=vert

You can disable the internal viewer in Preferences/Double Click/Files/ and uncheck "use internal picture viewer"

It does get easier the more one uses the power of DOpus.

Mike

Thanks, that worked for the image viewer.

I guess I'm a little put off by the complexity (and difficulty) of this program. I come from xplorer2 which is a lot easier, but not as powerful. In xplorer2, duping one pane to another is as simple as pressing a supplied button.

Okay, I created a button and copied those commands to it but I get an error when I use it. I get a message that says "windows can not find <?xml..."

I created the button by going to Customize-Commands-User and selecting Add. I put the script in the edit box supplied when I created a new button. Is this correct?

Just go to 'Customize' and paste the whole text onto the toolbar where you want it.

Ed... what mike is saying is something that a good number of new users don't realize is possible with Opus. After you've copied his button code to the windows clipboard, you can click RMB (right mouse button) on any toolbar and select 'Customize'. You can then click RMB again on any toolbar and select 'Paste'. This maneuver not only creates a new button, it populates the new button with the all the 'function' info needed as well. This is as opposed to going into 'Customize' mode and then selecting 'New->New Button' which just creates an empty new button on a toolbar which you would then still need to click RMB on in order to 'Edit' and finally manually enter in the desired label, tooltip, and function info for the new button.

The way he's describing above is sort of a 'shortcut' to do everything in one shot and makes 'sharing' buttons nice and easy. All the <> and XML tag type information is just how Opus internally saves the definition of a 'button'. The actual 'command' this button runs is simply: Go CURRENT OPENINDUAL=vert.

FYI - If you have the Preferences->Listers->File Display->Show file display border in single display mode option enabled, then the little |-> button at the right end of the file display border does the same exact thing without havign to have a separate toolbar button for this...

Edit note- you might want to take a look at the FAQ and Tutorial sctions here on the forums for examples of how to do common configuration things in Opus... and of course, ask questions here about exactly how to do something. Most times ppl here will offer advice without knowing how much you might know or NOT know about navigating Opus features. Don't be shy about asking 'how do I do that'... but do check out the FAQ .

Sorry but why don't you just click the Duplicate button in the inner border of the Opus Lister?

Okay, the paste onto the toolbar worked. Thanks.

I'm looking for the Duplicate button mentioned but I don't see it yet. I also don't see it in the help file. I see a lot of references to a Duplicate command for finding files, but not this button.

I guess I need to work through the tutorial because I'm having a hard time finding stuff in the help file.

See the manual page 13.
