Unusual script in Help viewer pane

I am a long-term user and have suddently experienced a strange listing in the Help viewer screen. A sample is as follows

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252" ?>
  • Welcome to Directory Opus
  • //
  • <![CDATA[

This is a new one on me and I do not know how to get out of it. Dopus support says it is not a Directory Opus problem but something caused by Windows 7. I think it did start after I installed the SP1 for that but I am not sure. Does any one have a good solution?

It's likely that the installation of one of the Windows components used to display the help has been damaged.

(I'm running Win7 SP1 without problems, so I don't think it is that.)
