Hi, suddenly I cannot open files with extension .url. Perhaps after a recent Win11 update?
A message appears reading
This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page.
The same files open fine in File Explorer and a couple other commanders I have tried.
Here is a screenshot showing the file properties for a sample - on the left is DOpus, on the right is the same file properties from File Explorer. This one is a Steam game but it's similar for other url's like an internet shortcut. In File Explorer I get a tab called "Web Document" showing the url, in DOpus this is missing for any type of url document.
I have tried looking in Windows settings for apps to open with file extension .url but this extension is missing from the list that can be customized. I couldn't find anything related in DOpus settings.
The Properties dialog is part of Windows rather than Opus.
Assuming the file and location are the same in both screenshots, and that you're using 13.12 or 13.12.3 (not the betas in-between), my guess is that something is blocking the dopus.exe process from accessing the file or website. (E.g. Antivirus or firewall.) Otherwise the icon would normally be displayed the same in both dialogs.
Hi, I was on 13.12. Updated to 13.12.3 beta but no change.
"Directory Opus" was missing from Windows firewall allowed apps. I added it and selected "Public" and "Private" networks, and restarted Opus. No change.
I don't use any antivirus other than whatever Windows provides (I have never made any changes there.)
FWIW, I can right-click on these items and select "Open With...", "Internet Browser". Then the items open as expected (tried with Steam game and website).
