The pic shows I have selected five items, if I click the blank area, these items will not be selected. Is it possible to keep the selected items after click the blank area?

Power Mode has mouse button modes (e.g. Full Toggle) which won't deselect things when the blank area at the bottom is clicked.
If you are just clicking there to activate the file display, there are also options to prevent the first click on an inactive display from deselecting things in all modes.
