But can’t find a way to move the files from the Results Collection and recreate folder structure.
I tried the command I usually use to move files from a Results Collection and recreate folder structure, but that command does not work when the files are in Archives. The files in Archives are moved to a single folder with the following path:
G:\Z Other\Archives Destination\Users\wgramr\AppData\Local\Temp\dperm-ee2f7570428379937-0.dop\
Is there a way to move these files in Archives and preserve folder structure?
Thank you.
You'd need a script that references the "real" files from the archives instead of the unpacked temporary ones if you want to copy/recreate from the collection.
To avoid this, skip the collection and copy the files directly with the Find filter as a Copy filter.
LXP,
Thank you. I enabled the Copy Filter, but it does not work when coping files from Archives.
I tried to move the files (with no option to recreate folder structure) and it would have taken over 24 minutes for about 17 MB!
and that was just a small part of what I need to move.
So I copied them (with no option to recreate folder structure) and then deleted the files in the collection, but It would have taken 30 minutes to delete the files in the collection - less than 18 MB!
I do use a script to move 'real' files (not in Archives) from a collection and recreate folder structure, but it does not work when the files are in Archives.
So, I'm not sure what this option would allow me to do effectively - other than just looking at the files:
What would recreating the folder structure mean with archives involved? Create directories named "xyz.zip" to put the files below, or create archives, or something else?
The command I use to move files from a collection and recreate folder structure is:
The Archives I get from clients' computers and other sources are often in many different locations/folders. I only work with photos and videos, but I get Archives in case they contain photos and/or videos. So when I move the files from the Archives, I don't want them to be placed all in the same folder.
In the past, I would use Flat No Folder view to select the Archives and move all the Archives to a folder for Archives and recreate the folder structure. Then I would select all the Archives, right-click, and extract them all to subfolders. That usually works fine, but I recently had a collection with 91 Archives in collection of over a thousand or so folders, including Archives inside Archives!!! That was a mess.
I'm just looking for a reliable solution for making sure all Archives are extracted without navigating to every Archive separately, extracting, then checking the extracted folder to see if there is an Archive inside.
