Hiya folks. I am endeavoring to utilize Directory Opus inside archives to view thumbnails of videos and pictures; photos are okay and working well. Whereas the video thumbnails don't come up. Is this normal? I checked "Preferences" and "Folder options", but I couldn't get the thumbnails shown. On the preview panel the video is only being demonstrated as a bunch of complex letters, numbers... I searched the internet about this issue but I couldn't find anything similar to this I am going through. This is why I am here. I require assistance of you.
Additional information: The video thumbnails are okay when not in the archive and the video was decompressed or extracted from the archive.
I also gave it a shot with a "ZIP" file simply and it's the same over again. Even if not compressed - setting the compression "store" - video thumbnails don't work. I am unsure if this is expected. Screenshots are added. I hope you may assist me about this.
Greetings. Thank you for thy response. Just I want to make it to myself clear... So, the video thumbnails aren't shown inside archives... This is what you are saying, right? I am endeavoring to make things clear only and make sure for because it has been written that Directory Opus was treating even the archive files, folders as the normal files and folders, and see everything as we would in normal directories... If we cannot observe the thumbnails of videos inside archives, is there any way to observe them... Like a plugin maybe? Is there any possibility to make them observable?
There isn't currently an option for it. Video thumbnails for files inside archives are blocked intentionally as they would often cause performance issues.
You can't generate a thumbnail for video without extracting the whole file from the archive first, and videos tend to be large.
(OTOH, images tend to be small, and image libraries can usually read them straight from the archive and don't always need to read the whole file.)
I guess we could add a size limit, but I think then it would be confusing to have some videos in archives show thumbnails and others not.
