When I view the control panel (using Tool menu option), it seems to always start at a summary page. I want to start with the small icons view. I searched preferences but did not find a way to set that. Is there a way to open the control panel window via Dopus and have the default view be small icons?
That menu item should open Control Panel in an Explorer window.
How Explorer shows the folder is between you and Explorer. 
This is not strictly true.. 
If you open control panel and change to small icons, when you use the start menu to open the control panel it will remember that.
If you open explorer and type in "control panel" it will go to the summary view, Dopus seems to do the same.
I believe it has to do with how how the path is created, the summary view is "Control Panel" the small icon view is "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items".
You can edit/replace the menu item if it doesn't do what you want.
Dragging the icon from Explorer's path field to the Opus menu/toolbar, while in Customize mode, creates a shortcut to the folder Explorer is showing and seems to do what you want here, from a quick test.

Thanks for the help. I did both: created a button and edited the Tools menu item (something I did not realize could be done). Dopus is powerful and flexible which is a blessing and a curse. I am 157 pages into the manual so I have a long way to go, and I am expecting that when I am done, I will have forgotten some of what I read. I do not have an eidetic memory - something else that is both a blessing and a curse.
