Viewer Panel won't play .FLAC audio files (but will play .mp3 & .wma)

Is there some way to get the Opus Viewer Panel to play .FLAC audio files, as it does with .mp3 and .wma files ?

I'm going through a very large collection of music, and setting 'Ratings' for each song. I'm currently using Dopus with VLC media player to do this, but it's a less than ideal process for a number of reasons (which I won't get into).

If the Dopus Viewer Panel could play (or be made to play) .FLAC audio files, this would be ideal. On the right side of the lister, I could open the Viewer Panel (to play the .FLAC audio file) and open the Metadata Pane below it (to set the song Rating). On the left side of the lister, I would simply use the down arrow key to move from song to song (where each song would play automatically as it was made active), and then select a Rating in the Meta Pane for each playing song.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro, and have the Xiph.Org Open Codecs installed, to provide .FLAC support in Windows 7.

Thanks

Try going to Preferences / Viewer / Plugins, and configuring the ActiveX + Office + Preview + Web plugin:

Adding .flac to the Generic ActiveX line:

That works in Windows 10 which plays FLAC out of the box, and should work in Windows 7 as long as Windows Media Player is set up to play FLAC files and the appropriate ActiveX/MIME mappings are in the registry.

Hi Leo, thanks for the suggestions. I added .flac to the Generic ActiveX line, but no change.

You also mentioned that the appropriate ActiveX/MIME mappings need to be in the registry. Perhaps this may be where the problem lies.

Can you suggest a way to restore any requisite mappings into the registry, in case they are missing?

Thanks

Should 64-bit users be using 64-bit ?

.flac or .mp3 (only ones tested) doesn't appear to be working for me either way also.
No change after a restart of Opus.

The Internet Explorer plugin does appear to work, assuming it's not using another plugin.
Also, a little off-topic - but do i need to worry about a security risk of using this?
