I've just installed a trial version of Directory Opus 8 and like it, especially the viewer panes. It would be really useful to be able to view Outlook .msg files - I've tried a couple of things but in vain:
Multiview can't locate the multiview dll files, I found it in the Program Files ->..-> viewers folder but when I try to locate it from the plugin manager - multiview viewer and go to that folder, the "OK" button remains greyed out.
Adding a new plugin- having found a .msg viewer but can't see how you add new plugins in!
Multiview needs to be pointed at the QuickView DLLs which do not come with Opus. You won't find them in the Directory Opus\viewers folder. You can get them for free with Yahoo Desktop Search as well as with some other products. See this thread for some more information.
You just copy them to the Directory Opus\Viewers folder, but I don't think there is a .msg plugin for Opus so I don't know what it is that you've found!?
I have PowerDesk with OutsideIn technology. Your web site ( gpsoft.com.au/MultiView.html ) implies that if I have PowerDesk Pro installed, then I could enable MultiViewer to use the installed technology. But I too cannot configurer the MultiViewer to find the DLLs it needs. Are you saying that you must have installed Yahoo Desktop?
Well, when I attempt to configure the MultiViewer, I try to navigate to wherever I think the DLLs are installed (and I don't know where they might be), but regardless, the OK button is greyed out so I cannot select any of the directories.
Does multi view search ahead in the directories and look for the appropriate DLLs before enabling the OK button? If so, then I probably have not selected the correct folder where the DLLs are installed. Do you know where PowerDesk Pro V6 installs these DLLs?
You have to point it at the folder with the DLLs; it won't search subdirectories.
I've never installed PowerDesk, Yahoo or the MultiView plugin so I'm not sure exactly where you need to look or what the name of any of the DLLs are, sorry. Hopefully someone else can help though.
