Want to remove "." within filename EXCEPT after "v"

For example:
FILENAME.OPEN.SOURCE.v1.1.1.FREE

NEW FILENAME:
Filename Open Source v1.1.1 Free

Having trouble with the "v1.1.1" My script keeps removing ALL "."

Is this possible?

This should do that:
[Dots to spaces except in numbers. (For files and folders.))

I've been using this script for months and it's exactly what I want, I'd love to build it into a DO button. I can't find a direct link as it looks like the originating domain is down, but this contains the source code and the .exe if anyone wants to check it out. I use the custom file and it would be great not to have to use that by having it built into the button as well...if possible.
