I am proceeding carefully from th known (the feeble but ubiquitous Exp...) to the less-known (to me) but infinitely more interesting and powerful DOpus.
This question has occurred to me. If it is covered in the help file, please simply point me there.
I have some folders that I when I open one, I also open another -- sort of like opening a pair of folders. In Exp, I have to find them, then double-click on each one to open it.
Is there a way that I could set DOpus up so that when I find and Open one of those folders, the other would open with it as a dual lister, at the same time?
In other words, could I wed the two folders into one lister?
I suppose that on the occasion that I would need only the one or the other, I could drag away the one not needed; in other words the two would not be forever welded together Sort of like a divorce, but a temporary one.
You can't do that automatially upon entering a particular folder.
There are ways to tell Opus to go to a pair of folders, though:
[ul][li]Saving a layout with the two folders open. (Most useful if you want to open a new window like that.)[/li]
[li]Saving a style with the two folders open. (Most useful for changing an existing window.)[/li]
[li]Creating a button, menu item or hotkey which runs a command like this:
Go "C:\" DUALPATH "D:\"
BTW, you might find the Navigation Lock feature useful if the two folders are mirrors of each other (i.e. they have the same, or similar, subdirectories and you want to move around both at once).
You might also look into the possibility of using Folder tabs although I know that's not quite what you were asking for. However a saved folder tab group could be easily set up to open some specific folders, and from there a simple right click over the folder you want will move it into a dual lister.
