When saving files to folders with many siblings under the same parent, the siblings remain hidden

The problem occurs as follows:

Step 1: I click “Save As” to save a file to a target folder that is one of 113 such folders (and other files) contained in the same parent folder.

Step 2: When I click “Save As” to save a different file to the same, or another sibling folder contained in the above parent folder, only the previous target folder is listed in the folder tree column. It’s sibling folders do not expand and instead remain hidden.

Where the “Save As” target folder is found amongst a lesser number of sibling folders, (as high as 68 in the cases I have tested), its sibling folders always expand normally into view and DO NOT remain hidden when saving second and third etc files to folder destinations in the same parent folder.

Is this a feature or a bug?

I have Folder Tree / Options / set to “Automatically expand to current folder / Fully populate contents”

I find the failure to display the sibling folders rather annoying because in any given work session, I frequently save files to folders within the same parent folder and in cases where the other sibling folders remain hidden, I have to manually expand the contents of the parent folder in order to find and select the particular folder where the current file is to be saved in.
If the behaviour is built in,

  1. When saving a file, what is the maximum number of sibling folders I can have in a parent folder without the other sibling folders becoming hidden?

  2. Can the limit (if there is one) be tweaked or removed?

I am using DO12, Pro Edition Vs 12.15.2 Beta (x64).

Any help or advice will be appreciated.

What is the program you're saving file from?
FWIW, Opus is not replacing the "File Open" and "Save File" dialog ...

I’ve tried saving files from MS Word, Excel, Paint Shop Pro, Vivaldi etc and all exhibit the same issue when saving to a folder that has many sibling folders contained in the same parent folder.

Pointing out that Opus does not replace the “Save As” dialogue was very perceptive. Armed with that information, I revisited the problem and found that the behaviour is mediated by Explorer and not DO.

There doesn’t seem to be a way to modify File Explorers behaviour and the only solution that occurs to me is to double click on the parent folder to have it display its contents in the right hand “Name” panel, thus enabling second and third etc files to be saved to whatever appropriate folder lies within the same parent folder.

Problem solved. Thanks very much for your help and quick response.
