Windows 24H2 update has broken some context menu stuff in WSL2

I think this is a bug introduced by some explorer changes with 24H2

After 24H2 installed it reset a lot of my file associations and when i was trying to do open with and set the default i noticed i was getting this:

I do not get this with the explorer.exe and it was working fine before i updated.

I have reinstalled DO 13.

So the issue is:

  • If i right click and try "Open with" i get this error.
  • If i double click on file with associations i get this error.

Right-click what, in which folder?

When i am inside a WSL location

Right click to open with

Double click

This was working the fine the day before. I did the update to 24H2 in the evening and next day these problems were new.

I don't think DO is the problem, i think 24H2 changed something.

Is username your username, or is WSL using a placeholder for that?

Does the problem also happen outside of the home folder?

username is the username configured for WSL and not a placeholder.

It happens anywhere from home down.

Some things work on double click, like an exe that is there.

To double click, a .txt file will work and a .json will prompt the open dialogue. Nothing seems to work with the "Open With" context menu option.

All i know is all these worked normally before the update.

edit: sorry to answer the question asked.

It worked normally outside WSL path locations, which is how i had reset some of my associations.

The windows file explorer also works fine.

Does File Explorer's path field show exactly the same path as Opus when under the home folder?

I think so

It's the same network path
