[Admin note: If you still have this problem, see here]
The RTM of Windows Virtual PC is now available to MSDN and Technet subscribers so I just installed it on Win7 Ultimate x64. I updated to DOpus 9.5 yesterday so now I run it in Explorer replacement mode.
However, the way Windows Virtual PC works is that rather than having its own GUI it gives you an extra item or two on the menu bar in the '%USERPROFILE%\Virtual Machines' folder. With Explorer replacement mode turned on, DOpus treats this like a normal folder so you don't get the WVPC menu items.
I tried adding this folder to the 'replace for all but the following' list but it didn't make any difference.
No, I reported this sometime back and it's still broken in the 9.5 release sadly. It's odd that even when I set it to not replace the specific folder opus still takes over and stuffs it up. doh.
How are you navigating to that folder? If you tell Opus not to handle it that will only affect what happens if you launch the folder from a shortcut or similar. It won't change what happens if you navigate to the folder via Opus.
Seems stupid that the Virtual PC people didn't consider that Explorer isn't the only file manager. This is like websites which only work in IE.
Opus takes over the opening of that link - I assume it should pass it to explorer (unless it's going to provide the extra functionality I need to access)?
Opus ignores a shortcut (as it should) but the direct link off the main start menu is incorrectly interpreted.
If you bring up properties on the shortcut, what does it run?
If it's a just a load of numbers/symbols, try dropping the shortcut on Opus's list of folders not to replace to see if Opus interprets it as a folder. That might be a way to stop it.
...which presumably invokes the shell to open the folder (which opus incorrectly intercepts).
It also has a jumplist (useful) for launching the individual VMs - oddly these don't work (nothing happens) and nor does the stock jumplist entry "manage virtual machines". I suspect pulling opus off the system might cure this but I can't confirm that (yet).
