Windows Media Player not working

Hi Opus Crew,

I'm on an endless searching tour and can't seem to figure out how to enable Windows Media Player build-in in Preview Handlers. What is the right way to set it up, so I can preview my music files within Opus 12. I got the newest updated Opus 12 Pro version.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Jovo

Is Windows Media Player installed on your system?

It should appear in the first list, between "Windows MAPI" and "Windows RTF", but looks like it's missing. There are some Windows versions which don't have it (at least not by default).

Thanks Leo for the fast reply. I do have Windows Media Player installed. I've downloaded Windows Media Player 12, MPC-HCx64 & x86.
What can I do to fix it?

Does video playback work in File Explorer's viewer pane?

It's possible the WMP 12 download version doesn't include the preview handler.

Thanks for the help Leo, I finally figured out how to get it right, but what do I have to do if I only want the double click on a music-file only targets the preview handler gets in action.

So shorten it up;
Double left click --> preview handler only plays the song (autoplay would be most welcome).

Single-click opens things in the preview pane. Double-clicking would open them in the sound player, standalone viewer, or another piece of software, depending on the file type and configuration.

I'm also not sure what you mean by "only plays the song"; that suggests there's something you don't want to happen that's happening now?

I'm sorry for the bad explanation. Can the single-click also autoplay the preview handler? Would be handy for me because I got many music files and would make things a little faster for searching the right samples.

It looks like you're using the Windows Media Player preview handler for those files in the viewer pane at the moment. That cannot auto-play as far as I am aware.

But if you disable it (in the same preview handler list from your screenshot earlier in the thread), the files should drop through to the Windows Media Player ActiveX viewer, which auto-plays by default.

(At least assuming the WMP ActiveX viewer is now available on your system, after getting the WMP preview handler working again. It may depend on exactly what you did there, and/or why it wasn't listed previously. You didn't mention what you did there so I am not sure.)

Man, you're the best! Works like a charm :star_struck:

Many thanks & wishing you a happy new year!
