"Automatically rename if new filename exists" when mass renaming

Hi forum and Dopus Support Team,

I am renaming some 1000 files using RegEx (a date suffix at the end of the file name must be deleted in each case).

If the renaming result is the same for several files in the same folder, what happens to these files?

Specifically, which ones of the conflicting files are automatically renamed, and what is added to their file names?

Alternatively, what happens to those conflicting files when the "Automatically rename..." checkbox is not checked?

Thanks for any clarification regarding the "Automatically rename if new filename exists" feature :slightly_smiling_face:

It will add a number near the end of the filename.

Why not just try it on some test files? That will show you exactly what happens.
