Behavior of ftp lister changed

Prior to upgrading to V 13, when I ftp'ed to a site, only one item could be selected at one time. For example, click file A, then click file B and file A becomes unselected.

Now, when I first connect the above behavior is the same. But when I click into a sub-directory, any item I click on stays selected. How to change that?

Using 13.7.8

That hasn't changed in Opus 13.

You've probably switched into Power mode without realising. Switch back to Details mode for standard mouse button behavior.

Thanks, that was it. The upgrade added or changed one of the toolbars so there were duplicate view mode settings. One was in Detail and the other in Power.

This problem has returned. The mode in the toolbar says it is in Detail. Is there a place in the settings where I can check this or any suggestions?

Using Directory Opus 13.9.4 (Beta) Build 8987 x64

Power Mode isn't used at all by default. If Opus is switching into it, it must be because you've configured it that way somewhere.

If it only happens with FTP sites, you've probably changed the the FTP folder format to tell it to do that. (Preferences / Folders / Folder Formats)

I haven't changed any settings at all. I looked in the settings you mentioned but don't see anything that seems related to this, though I am not familiar with the settings. I see ftp is checked in the "Folder Type Formats". Should that be unchecked or edited?

How do I escalate this problem?

  1. Check Preferences / File Display Modes / Power Mode / Display Power mode toolbar buttons and
  2. Look which view mode is enabled:

Thanks for taking the time to show that. I see the problem now. i was clicking on the icon next to the View button. As shown in the attached, it is for Details. But the View list had Power mode checked. What is the purpose of the details icon if it doesn't change the mode? Any, any idea how the Power mode gets set? I never switch to it on purpose,

The Details button does change modes, and is the same as the Details option within the View menu. It's just there for convenience.

Switching into Power mode is likely happening for the reasons I already stated above. Check all of your Folder Formats.

I did look at that section when you mentioned it but there's not a view setting that I could find. And since I have never been in that section, it must have been set by the update to V13 since I never had this problem before then. Plus, let's say Power mode was set for video files. Why would that change the mode when I switched to ftp? This seems like a bug in the latest version. If I can cause it to to happen again, I will post here.

It's here in every folder format:

Thanks for the image. It was set to Power Mode. I changed it to Details after your reply and tested to make sure it worked. The next day, I started doing normal things and, at some point, the mode switched back to Power Mode. It turns out that my default lister had Power Mode set from when the setting was duplicated after upgrading to V13. I changed the setting and saved the lister and have not had any problems since.

I'm still having problems with this intermittently. I have the ftp display option set to Details in settings. When I ftp to a site and check the view mode, it is set to Details. If I then click into a directory, the mode is changed to Power. If I move back to the root, it is in Details again. What do I need to change in the settings to have all ftp listings to be in Details mode.

You probably have a folder format saved for the folder you’re entering.

After entering it, hover the mouse over the Info icon in the status bar. It will tell you where the current format came from.

It says it is using the default format. And that is set to Power mode. I see a lot of ftp entries in the Automatic Formats section. If I click the Clear Formats section there, do I then need to go into the Folder Formats section and change the FTP method to Details?

If your default format is wrong, fix it by following these steps:

Thanks for the links. I went ahead and cleared all of the saved formats and, so far, the problem has not returned.
