Can't get SFTP to connect

I can't get the DOpus FTP to connect to an SFTP service that works perfectly well with FileZilla. All I get is a message box that says:

"An error occurred reading folder: General error."

...and a continuously scrolling progress bar in the lister window "None: Not connected".

Neither does there appear to be a log anywhere that I can find, despite logging being the default (and I added debug).

I'm using DOpus 10.0.0.0.4137.x64 on Win7 (yes, I know it's out of date!)

You should at least update to the latest version of Opus 10 (10.5.7.0), since you're missing out on several years worth of free improvements if you stay on 10.0.0.0. You can download it here.

The FAQ on FTP connection issues has some suggestions and also explains how to open the log window.

Thanks for the tip regarding logs, here's the relevant extract:

I will try updating to the version you suggest (I take the attitude don't fix what ain't broke, and so far nothing I use - which is only a small subset of DOpus's capability - has been broken).

The log message means the server requires newer encryption protocols than were in Opus 10.0.0.0.

Newer versions of Opus support newer encryption protocols and the server should work with the latest versions. From a quick search of the release notes, we updated the SFTP encryption support back in January 2015 (Opus 11.11), so you may still see the same thing after updating to Opus 10.5.7.0, but can expect things to work if you upgrade to a more recent version.

Strangely enough, the revision log entry for 10.5.7 says "Bug fixes: FTP has been updated to the latest version of the OpenSSL libraries, to fix the "heartbleed" security hole."

Still not sufficiently up-to-date though, same problem (slightly different log entry).

I'll have to think about paying for 11 or 12, like I said I only use a very small part of what DOpus has to offer. Until then I'll have to put up with FileZilla.
