dOpus hidden 'Leverage Points' to routinely clear/clean for opt-perf?

I experienced a brief several weeks dOpus Nirvana using EverythingFolderSize tweak,
until dOpus just slowed to a dead dog crawl opening directories -
forcing me to reimage, reinstall dOpus, and delete the whole EverythingFolderSize procedure -

and I own it that it's 99.99% probably due to some config I added
out of the greed-need-for-speed to get that MFT instant directory size operational
throughout ALL of dOpus - which will be a subject for another post - ->

can dOpus incorporate that Everything type MFT code into its own native directory size algorithms -
if not, why not? Either technically not possible, legally, or both?

So while I'm still working to restore dOpus' speed,
I looked into the massively obsolete number of custom File Paths I'd created,
and simply by deleting them and starting from -0- saved formats,
a problem I had with Preferences taking nearly 1 minute to open on the screen
was fixed instantly:

So to the point of this post:

Are there any other "Hidden" (due to ignorance) 'Leverage Points'
in the various dOpus Settings, Preferences, files, folders, etc. -

that could-should be routinely reviewed and cleaned in order to keep dOpus running
at its (for me anyway) legendary and wonderful speed/functionality?

Yes, I'm emo - when dOpus breaks down like this -
it's like arriving home from work & being served divorce papers
by the Love of my Life! ... whaaaa'd I do wrong????

Thx for any insights into potential routine cleanups, etc.

Lots of file collections, or collections with thousands of items in that, can slow things down a bit. Go to coll:// and remove any collections you don't still need. (Be careful not to delete the files or folders inside the collections. Deleting the collection itself is safe.)

Using background images (as in pictures) can also slow things down a little (or a lot sometimes, depending on how they're used).

Toolbars pointing to lots of exe/dll files for icons can be slowed down by antivirus in some cases. And toolbars (or favorites sometimes) pointing to network drives that are slow of not always accessible can cause delays.

Maybe in the future.

Thx Leo - I've never used the Collections feature, so opening the collection.off in Notepad++
shows -0- entries, and I also don't utilize bkgd images for folders -
but good to know this info anyhow.

And I'm still studying those 3 main Folder Format articles you wrote in 2005/2011 !

Collections can get created by a few things (Find Files, marking images in the viewer, Quick Search, etc.) so sometimes people accumulate some without knowing.

We have some changes coming which will reduce the impact of having lots of large collections, but it'll always be best to delete any that are no longer needed. (Even if it doesn't slow things down, it'll still waste some background CPU and memory to process them.)
