Environment varible as an alias

How can an environment varable be used in lieu of an alias?
This post arises from this one:

[url]Refresh folderalias.oxc]

For instance I have created an Env-var (I think) called issues:

issues=D:\Data\DirOpus

Now I thought I could do this:

But alas it does not work:

Why oh why does my env-var not work????

Environment variables are referenced with %NAME%, e.g. in your example above, the command would be Go %issues%.
