This produces no output. I think it's a problem with the first line of the Evaluator code but I don't know a fix. Ideas?

The first line of your code also works fine by itself.
Maybe try to write it again as a new Evaluator Column ?
There's a similar column here. Perhaps you can identify the bug by comparing the two?
