How to display length for mkv movies in Duration column

Hi everybody,

Is there a way to display length for mkv movies in a folder in Duration column? mp4 movies' length is displayed but not mkv ones'.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

It should work automatically if you are using Windows 10, unless the Windows built-in MKV support has been damaged in some way.

If you're using an earlier version of Windows, an MKV demuxer will need to be installed. (It needs to be 64-bit if using 64-bit Windows.)

Thanks for your reply, Leo. I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Where can I find such MKV demuxer? Many thanks in advance.

Enable/fix playback of various media formats in Opus has some suggestions. (I don't know if they are still the best ones; Windows made them less and less needed over the last few versions, so it's not something we revisit often now.)
