Lister Context Menu missing

I've been reading through several entries on the forum about the Lister Context Menu that is supposed to exist within the Context Menu portion of the Customize window. Below is all that is listed within my window -

Lacking the Lister Context Menu item. I see the line item on several of the context menus, but Can't seem to figure out how to see the actual full context menu itself.
Did I erase it somehow? If so, how do I get it back?

I don't think there's such a thing as the "Lister context menu".
At least, I've never seen one (and I don't really see from where you could trigger it).

What you get is (as described in the manual) :

  • The context menus you can trigger from different items in the file display (first section) : folders, libraries, etc ...
  • Other context menus for other places : Column headers, Copy Highlighted Cells, Folder Tabs, Image Viewer and Tray Icon.

Could you point where you've seen this Lister context menu mentioned ?

OK, for me, "this" (or "these") are the menus you can configure in the first section : they appear when you right click the background of the lister.
There are different ones for different contexts.

If you're displaying "regular folders", the menu that will appear is the one you can configure by double clicking "Folders" in the window from your screenshot.
If your lister is displaying an FTP site, then the "FTP" menu will appear.
And so on ...

Considering what's displayed on the screenshot from this "Missing NEW entry ..." post, it's refering to the Folder background context menu.

Maybe the option "icon" in Preferences / Location Bar / Options is that what you want.

Right : these menus can either be trigger via right-clicking file display ("lister") background or this icon if it's enabled in the preferences where you describe.

I'm thoroughly confused about what this has to do with a lister context menu?

I see what you're saying, it looks like they may have just rearranged the different variables from the context menu. I'd really like to be able to see the options that are contained within that menu so that I can see the entire context menu and potentially add/remove/rearrange some of the options within it.

Thanks for the help. I'll keep looking

Click RMB on the icon and you will have a lister context menu. Sometimes there is no empty space in lister where you could click RMB.

I tried what you're talking about and didn't offer anything new. To get more technical, I'm looking for the "Windows Shell Lister context menu" if theres a way I can view it through Directory Opus

Isn't that the default unless Preferences / Miscellaneous / Shell Extensions / Hide Windows & third-party items on file context menus (Shift overrides) is checked?

this is my right click on the top folder context menu. I dont have the box checked that you are mentioning.

The option mentioned by lxp is in the Preferences, not here.
He means that the Shell context menu should appear at the place you pointed in your screenshot, unless you disabled the option in the Preferences.

EDIT : As an example, here is my "Folder" context menu :

If this preference is unchecked like so :

Then this is what I get upon right clicking file display background :

But if I check the box in preferences (which is my set up), I only get :

The shell part is not in the menu anymore, which is what I'm asking by checking this option.

Thank you for parsing that out for me... I had a misunderstanding of what that menu was. I do NOT have that box checked in my preferences, which is what I was trying to say in my previous post but was too lazy to write it out understandably.

I'd really like to be able to see the "new" menu, and modify things on there or at the very least just see it. What about the context menu for what appears when you click on the desktop? Can we see that either?

No pb.
I'm away from the computer for the next coming days.
Strange that you don't have the 'NEW' menu.
You can still add it (there or in a button) with FileType NEW and if you want specific filetypes entries, they can be forced as shown in the manual with commands like FileType NEW=directory NEWNAME="My Dir"
