OneDrive Icons not showing in Status Column

I know that evil and dastardly Microsoft is changing things.... But I thought it important to report that the latest updates to OneDrive (via latest preview build) are having an effect on how DOPUS shows the status of files stored in OneDrive.

MS File Explorer now shows the status of files through icons in OneDrive within a separate STATUS Column. I added the STATUS column to my DOPUS 12 Lister but no icons appear. Note that they appear in File Explorer.

I used ShellExView to disable DropBox overlays but that did not change things.

The upgrade to OneDrive is actually useful as it again allows files to be "shadowed" on local drive but stored on the cloud, thus freeing up space.

I hope this heads-up helps alert the developers to an issue. If there is an easy fix then I would appreciate learning about it.

I wonder if Microsoft copied that idea from us?

If Explorer now has a status icons column then it will be something completely different to the status icons column in Opus, which predates Explorer's column.

It may need us to add support for their new thing, but we tend not to add support for preview versions of Windows as Microsoft have a history of changing things at the last minute and it's a waste of time to chase their tail until things have settled down.

The OneDrive On-Demand is part of the 2017 Fall Creators Update from Microsoft. This is due to be released for production in late Aug/Sept.

Honestly it kinda stinks to have to switch back and forth between DOPUS and explorer. I find I am using explorer more and more as I need access to the status information of the synced files.

Give it 6 months and Microsoft will probably kill the feature again

lame

Since a few days the official Windows 10 Fall Creators Update RTM Build (16299.15) is available, official rollout starts in less than 10 days. The "situation" with the Status didn't change. The OneDrive developers said repeatedly that they build a much more robust system than the old placeholders. I personally don't think they will drop support again now.

I agree with @bkmccarty that it's annoying to switch between Explorer and Dopus. I hope support for the new Status column is planned. Anything to share @Dopus developers?

They said that about the last three or four complete re-writes of OneDrive and how it works.

Of course. We will add support in a future version. Until the change is finished or nearly finished, we can't say which exact version or exactly when, in case things change, as is our policy in general.

Well the Windows autumn (yes i'm from the uk) update has now been officially released and my computer updated yesterday.

With the new Onedrive files on demand feature you really do need access to the new status column to know where each files is stored. Hopefully it won't be too long until dopus gets the status column as like others have said its a pain to have to keep switching between file managers.

I guess this request will show up quite a bit in the near future. I certainly arrived to the forum after years of using DO "silently", just to find out how to be able to see the relevant status icons after Windows updated today.
I do find the new OneDrive workflow to be very nice, the only unpleasant thing about it being lack of support in DOpus right now.

The new OneDrive is now released to ALL Windows 10 Users PLUS ALL Office 365 Users. OneDrive today is a single client also for Office 365 (OneDrive for Business) with 1TB space included. As most of IT people I'm now using that drive for almost all my files. Now OneDrive content (with Files on Demand) is actually usable only in Explorer and I had to stop using my licenced DO :frowning: .
Please integrate OneDrive ASAP, thanks!

Hi,

I just update my windows to latest fall creator update and liking the 'Files on Demand' feature from OneDrive. Currently as stated above 'Status' only work on windows explorer. On DO I can ony add 'Availability' Columns which only tell files are on local or online without detailed status such as: permanent offline or downloaded on demand request. Will DOpus 11 updated for this changes? Or only for DOpus 12?

Thank You,
Hadi Susanto

Only Opus 12.

Thank You

I want to add that I would also want to see this updated for DOpus.

One more thing I noticed - I tend to upload photos to a folder that I have marked to download on demand (as there's a lot of photos there and it is 1-2GB now) and it seems that DOpus does not handle previews for images that are marked as download on demand.

I am not sure if this is something that is even exposed via OS/OneDrive APIs so I am not sure if DOpus can detect this and get the thumbnail from OneDrive or something, but it would be amazing if I can see the previews in DOpus and not have to switch to explorer for this one folder.

The next update (12.6.3 beta, and later 12.7 stable) will include support for the new Win10 FCU OneDrive in the existing Availability column, as well as thumbnail support for remote files in the OneDrive folder (to the extent that OneDrive's web service can generate them), and the ability to search, filter or label (including status icons) files based on availability.

You can now grab the new beta with support for the Win10 FCU OneDrive changes:

The display of the status is available now for normal onedrive.
But it seems that Onedrive for Business is not supported yet?
Technically it is the same client. There are just different folders.

What is the timeline for the full implementation of this feature?
Would be really cool :).

thx-alex

The same client (OneDrive.exe) cache locally the OneDrive folder (the consumer one), the OneDrive for Business folder (the "home folder" in Office 365), and multiples SharePoint folders (the "Team Folder"). OneDrive Folder Type format should be applied by default to all of them, and, of course, Status icon and Availability columns should have the correct values.

Is the only issue that the OneDrive folder format doesn't automatically kick in for the other folders?

Do the status and availability columns now work in those folders if you turn them on yourself?

For other folders Status Icon does NOT work, Availability column works for files, not sure it works for sub-folders.
See my samples below (I have 3 "onedrive" root folders; Personal is OneDrive consumer, Pulsar IT is my Company name where I have Office 365 account with Onedrive / Sharepoint).
