In fact, I found a script suggesting this was already possible in 2014:

GPSoftware Notes: If you just want to add some files to a toolbar, you can drag them there directly while in Customize mode. Or, if you want to add everything in or below a folder to a toolbar, you can do that using the Go FOLDERCONTENT command…

But… using ActiveX. I found that a bit too tricky. Still, maybe I’ll try it.
