Turn off video playing in Viewer Pane

Hi there
The viewer pane like so much else in Opus rocks.
Accept for the understandable fact that when I move the cursor over a video file for me opus locks up for a time while it loads that video. I often am navigating a folder with the viewer pane open and I hit lockup when I move to a video file by mistake.

So I want to stop the viewer pane playing videos.
I mostly have photos and when I want to play a video I do so using my preferred player.

Is it possible to turn off the playing of videos?

Many thanks as always

Preferences / Viewer / Plugins

Turn off the Movie plugin.

Configure the ActiveX + Preview + Office + Web plugin, and remove any movie extensions from the Generic ActiveX lines near the bottom. (You might want to do the same for any preview handlers near the top, although they tend to be lightweight viewers and may cause less problems.)

Superb thank you Leo. That was quick. 1124h in London by my clock?
I tried unticking the Movie plugin already but that of course had no effect by itself.
Pretty picture of your instructions for benefit of others.
Now the movies come up as raw text which is fine. Sorted.
thanks again

5 years later I want to stop zip files from loading in the viewer.
So I go
Settings > Prefs > Viewer > Plugins
But I find no ZIP plugin
I do see the ActiveX Plugin but it is not checked anyway.
Is there anything I can do?

What I want to stop is shown below.
Notice zip file selected in LHS pane is showing as loading in viewer pane

This should be a separate thread. Which viewer ends up loading them?

Hi Leo
Sorry dropped the ball with this one
I have created a new thread for a different file type here Stop wireshark files being opened in viewer pane
