In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to use Directory Opus on your android device.
You will be able to..
-
Remotely manage both PC and Android files with Directory Opus.
-
Play music from your PC to your android device.
-
Stream tv shows and movies from your computer directly to your android device. * For optimal performance you will need an Nvidia graphics card with Cuda support.
-
Play a PC game on your android device *You will need an Nvidia graphics card with Cuda support.
Note: You will need a wireless router connected to your home network. Connect your android device to your home network via wifi
-
Install the Splashtop Streamer software on your Windows PC.
You can find that here:
http://www.splashtop.com/streamer/downloadstart?platform=Windows -
Right click on the Splashtop Streamer icon in your system tray.
-
Go to preferences
-
Make sure these settings are checked.
[Broken image due to ImageShack] -
Click on the Advanced tab and create a password. You need 8 to 20 alphanumeric characters long. Must contain at least one number and one letter.
I suggest leaving the default port 6783, otherwise you need to change the port in the android Splashtop app too.
-
Install the following apps on your android device.
Android Smartphone
Splashtop Remote Desktop
Rapfox FTP Server
Android Tablet
Splashtop Remote Desktop HD
Rapfox FTP Server
-
Create an android ftp server. (Tap the Rapfox FTP server app on your android device.) Go to options.
-
Start the Ftp Server
-
Open Directory Opus go to ftp>address book
Enter your IP address as shown in android ftp server
Change port to 2121
Initial Directory: /mnt/sdcard (Root folder of your android device)
Turn on passive mode -
I like to make multiple ftp addresses to quickly access certain android folders. I made several duplicates of the first ftp address. Next, I renamed each duplicate to their corresponding folder. Simply change the Initial Directory for each address.
