I am a new trial user.
I would like to know if Directory Opus has a sub-folder tip/preview feature.
I currently use QTTabar, an add-on for Windows Explorer.
It adds a button beside folders that lets you expand the sub-folders:

Does Directory Opus have a similar feature?
I cannot find it myself, running as a trial user.

Correct. It isn't exactly the same as in your screenshot. You right-click the name instead of left-clicking an arrow next to the name.
Is there any way I can request this as a plugin or modification?
I don't see a forum for that sort of thing.
Because I love the button feature so much.
The right click feature seems very tedious.
QTTABBAR is a free program, and perhaps it wouldn't be so hard to copy that one functionality into Directory Opus.
Unfortunately this is not something we are considering adding to Opus.

To each his own, of course, but I see 2 advantages to the right-click way:
And the number of mouse clicks is exactly the same. I can't really think of disadvantages to the right-click (except for the obvious and subjective "it's not what I'm used to")
I bet you'll get used to right-clicking quickly enough

Well, to be picky, it is a bit faster using a little button like QT's.
With the button, you just click once.
Then you roll over whatever you need and it automatically displays:
With the right click, you have go through two steps.
You have to right click and load the entire context menu.
You have to pick your expander option from the menu.
Then you navigate.
My context menu does have a lag time when loading from folders.
This is because I have many neccessary menu items associated.
I don't have any lag time when using the button.
It just loads what I want to see.[/img]
Just to note...
The button I mentioned does not appear beside every folder.
It only appears once, beside the folder your mouse is near.
So there's no cluttering at all.
Perhaps some of you should try it, to see what I mean:

It's a free application, integrates into Windows Explorer.
It installs and uninstalls in a breeze, so it should be easy to test.
But again, I understand the developers have no interest in such a feature.
I am just so used to this convenience, I can't accept anything the slightest bit slower.

If the context menu takes a while to appear you can speed it up by moving unwanted items into a submenu (or removing them completely), as explained here:

I was aware of Opus's ability, in that regard.
But I'm not in a situation where I have clutter in my context menu.
Almost everything listed has some use.
Of course, there's a slight resource cost.
Adding a sub-folder navigation to that resource-cost is not appealing.
Especially when I have the choice to navigate sub-folders using a button.
I hope I'm not being rude...
But can I ask why this cannot be done?
Of course, there's no need to answer.
I totally understand if you all are too busy and whatnot.
I'll drop the issue if there's no hope.

Thanks for your brilliant input.
But my question wasn't aimed at you.
It was aimed at someone who works on Opus.
If their position is that they'll NEVER impliment such a feature, fine.
I won't purchase it.
But if their position is that it is possible, but not right now for whatever reason...Then I'd opt to buy Opus and wait.
The thing about my suggestion is, people can't find it useful unless they've tried it. And no one has tried it, because the feature exists in some obscure free program.

I can't edit my own posts on this forum. So I'll just add another thing.
People do find it useful.
That's why even before I created this topic, someone created a context menu version of what I'm suggesting.
The only problem is that the context menu version is less efficient than the delivery method suggested (see above posts for explanation).
I think this horse is well and truly flogged now...
A simple answer to my question, like "No, we don't EVER want to create this feature" would have sufficed.
But I guess sarcasm is the standard around here.

Yes, but I followed up with another question about the reason.
If it was a simple lack of interest, fine. I wouldn't purchase.
But if the reason was time-related, then I would purchase in the hopes that whenever time was free...someone would look into it.
But never mind now.
