Flat View messing Folder Options

Hi all.

I'm trying to adjust Folder Options for Flat View. Unfortunately, I didn't understand how it works...
Although this seems like a small and easy problem, I apologize for creating a long thread here.

The current display for List View is:

If I change to Details View, this is:

If I set Flat View, I got this:

The Flat View button is this:
DOpus - Folder Options for Flat View 04

The Folder Options for Flat View is:
DOpus - Folder Options for Flat View 05

I don't want "Type" not "Attributes" fields.
I do want this layout:

I want this fields and widths:
DOpus - Folder Options for Flat View 07

And List View for default:
DOpus - Folder Options for Flat View 08

Like this:

But if I go to other folder, come back to the previous one and click Flat View button, the old display is show...

I tried to Reset, Clear and Save buttons, but always it returns to that default options with "Type" and "Attibutes" fields and unwanted widths...

The Lock button in the status bar is always unlocked.

I note that the Save button is working, because if I return to the folder, options are applied.
The problem is when I presse the Flat View button.

And I got layouts like this:

Preferences is set to "Cancel Flat View mode when folder is changed", but I cannot see changes.

I'd searched the forum and found this topic:

Trying to set a Style, as suggested there, I create this:

And set the button in this way:
DOpus - Folder Options for Flat View 14

But the button just call the Preferences window with Styles option.

Finally, I tried to apply a script, like described here, but I'm afraid it's written for newer version than mine.

Questions:

1 - What the difference between the Reset button on top and bottom of the page?

DOpus - Folder Options for Flat View 12

DOpus - Folder Options for Flat View 17

2 - Is it possible to use Styles to do that?

3 - Where are the files that store all these settings? I would like to be able to edit them.

4 - How to get the desired and same layout for my folder before and AFTER press the Flat View button?

Thanks.

Have you followed the FAQ about setting up the columns etc. that you want?

A few details will be different if you're still using Opus 9, but the general steps remain the same.

Flat View has its own folder format. (At least in current versions of Opus. I can't remember as far back as Opus 9 or when this was added.) That might be what's causing the change.

The command is using STYLELIST when it should be using STYLE.

One resets all pages (tabs) and the other only resets the current page (tab).

I doubt you need styles for anything if the aim is just to change which columns are turned on in Flat View. Edit the Flat View folder format in Preferences instead (assuming it exists in Opus 9).

There is a FAQ on where they are, but you shouldn't edit them by hand.

Thank you, Leo.

I will read all the resources you pointed out.

And I think it will solve the problem.

:+1:

I believe the keepformat argument for flat view might help: Wiki Link . It has an example on there.

So like Set FLATVIEW=Toggle,keepformat

That might allow you to change the layout settings via commands without the Flat View layout taking over.

Wonderful tip!

It solves my problem.
Many thanks, @ThioJoe.

Even so, the topics indicated by @Leo also contain a lot of information that I didn't use because I didn't know.

You can also turn off the Flat View format in Preferences / Folders / Folder Formats, if you never want it to be used, no matter how you go into Flat View.

(But you'd usually want the format, so that it can add the Location column when showing files from multiple places. At least for the non-grouped versions of Flat View. You can choose what the format changes by editing it, while keeping it turned on.)
