Quick Show (New Feature)

Many thanks to the developers for adding this feature (Dopus 13.17.4 Beta). This feature is very useful for quickly previewing images…:+1:

Nothing happen when I try to use it :face_with_peeking_eye:
But QUICKVIEW or QUICKSHOW ?

Simply select an image and press the spacebar, and the quick view will appear. Clicking anywhere outside the quick view will automatically close it. I'm also confused about the naming difference between quick view and quick show. You should ask the developer.

It's fixed by @Jon. It's QUICKSHOW.

Yes, it has been fixed.

The only thing that I would change about Quickshow is to automatically set the SPACE key to do it. It’s awesome!

OK, I did not create a button with a hotkey but only a hotkey definition for Space to SHOW Quickshow=dismisskey. It sort of works, but sometimes opens and closes the viewer window

serval times before finally settling on opening it and then SOMEtimes it seems to be stuck open.

No, the machine I tried it on has no keyboard hook type utility installed.

Ah - it’s even weirder. When I tap the Space bar, it opens the viewer to stay open. When I keep pressing the Space bar, it opens, closes, opens again and THEN waits until I release the key.

I also changed to different keys to rule out a defective Space key or any interference, but the behaviour stays the same: Tapping the key that SHOW Quickshow is assigned to will open the viewer and then not close it. Keeping it pressed will open, close, sometimes open&close a 2nd time, then open and then wait until I release the key. I also tried with “,link”, same behaviour with one added detail: When the viewer opens for the first time and I press Cursor Left or Right before it closes, it will not close and stay open until I release the viewer key.

That's strange, I haven't had any issues so far. Maybe the developers can address this issue.

I think this can happen if the viewer takes longer to open than your key repeat rate. In the next version we'll make it ignore repeat key presses.

Hi Jon. A suggestion. Could you add new args to set the maximum preview size and its position?
Right now, opening large images can take over the whole screen, which isn’t very practical in some situations.

Suggestion: List contents of archive files.

The whole point is that this is a "quick look" at files, if we start adding a bunch of options it'll just end up replicating everything the full viewer can already do.

So far I have always opened the "full viewer" with the same size, but after the new "quick show" feature, the size of the "full viewer" always changes.

I hope that when I open the “full viewer'“, its size and position will follow the previous “full viewer” size and position, not the "quick show" position and size. The goal is to always have the “full viewer” size the same when I open it.

Or maybe add a maximum window width feature in the "full viewer" settings?

Understandable. Maybe it’s just a placebo effect, but files seem to open faster with the new Quickshow than with the Preview Pane or standalone Viewer.

Slightly off-topic, but would it be possible to add a new Dialog control similar to Quickshow for previews? That way I can add that kind of features on my own.

While the static control can be used for that purpose, for non‑image files it’s more like a “thumbnail” viewer than an actual one. I’ve got a few scripts that would benefit from this new control, e.g. [my duplicate finder]( Compare images with Opus ) (which includes an image content comparison feature).

I tried setting the key repeat in Windows to maximum and it still happens, but with a longer delay. I press Space, VIewer opens, waits half a second, closes, reopens. When I just tap the Space bar, Viewer opens but does not close after release, will only do that after the second opening.

Would love this function but for me this just opens the standard viewer, no scaled down version. Plus the viewer doesn’t clsoe when releasing Space. I checked and there’s no key conflict using space.

Did you install the beta version?

I did

How did you configure the function? Space won't close it unless you have the dismisskey keyword in the command (e.g. Show QUICKSHOW=dismisskey).
